During his forthcoming visit to Mumbai, BJP president Amit Shah can meet Uddhav Thackeray from Shiv Sena. Amit Shah is visiting Mumbai to take part in the 38th foundation day of the party. The party was founded on April 6. According to BJP leaders, no meeting was scheduled but they cannot simply rule this out.
In the Tuesday edition of ET, it was reported that feelers had been sent by BJP to Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena had announced that they will take part in the sense 2019 Lok Sabha and the assembly elections without anyone.
Many of the BJP leaders visit‘Matoshree’ including the BJP Presidents and it is a sort of routine for them, they always visit‘Matoshree’ whenever they visit Mumbai but Amit has made only two visits to the Thackeray residence till date. Shah visited the place back in the last year when BJP asked for Shiv Sena’s support for NDA’s Nominee for the presidential election Ram Nath Kovind.
On Tuesday aBJP leader told ET “With just a year for the 2019 parliamentary polls, there is a realization in the party that we would need the Sena on our side. The Sena’s misgivings have to be clear,”
Until now BJP leaders have not taken the announcement of Shiv Sena seriously, they’re calling it a pressure tactic. They are pretty confident that they will be able to make Shiv Sena an ally again.
BJP has offered Shiv Sena the post of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. This is the first substantial offering from BJP to Sena.
BJP also showed the signs that they were ready to offer 120 seats to Sena to take part in the Elections of 2019, even though they won double the seats as compared to Sena in the last Elections. The changes showed by BJP towards Sena, their oldest ally, recently was responsible for Sena hitting out at Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
